Hospital staff can now borrow from Bond Library
Staff members of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service can now borrow materials from Bond University Library. This arrangement increases the cooperation between the library services of Bond and the GCHHS (Bond students on placement can already access some services at the hospital libraries).
To borrow, GCHHS staff just need to present their staff identification card,
and proof of address (eg. a drivers license), and they'll be issued a Bond library card.
Borrowing privileges are limited to 5 items from our main collection, and electronic access is not available due to authentication/licensing restrictions. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions about the new arrangement!

Increased access to the AMH
I'm very happy to announce that Bond's access to the AMH (Australian Medicines Handbook) has now increased from 2 users, to 5 users.
This is a significant increase and should make the AMH more accessible for all students and staff in Health Sciences and Medicine.
The library made the increase as a result of feedback from a number of staff and students, so if you have any suggestions/feedback about library resources - get in touch!

Cautionary Tales: Authentic Case Histories from Medical Practice
From the back cover:
What if a misdiagnosis could stop a wedding? Could your patient with chronic fatigue actually have Addison's disease? Would you have recognised musculoskeletal pain as a manifestation of anxiety about penis size?
These scenarios and many others feature in this much anticipated collection of cautionary tales by the world-renowned authority on general practice, Professor John Murtagh. Learn and laugh as Professor Murtagh and colleagues recount their war stories from the front line. These tales remind us that sometimes things are not as they seem and it always pays to remain alert to the subtleties of the human condition.
After all, in the words of Professor Murtagh, 'To practise medicine is a privilege, to practise it well is a difficult challenge, but not to learn from one's mistakes is unforgivable'.
